A Season Well Spent

A Summer of Reflection

As summer begins to wind down, I find myself pausing to take stock of the season — not just the work we’ve done, but the moments that have filled it with meaning. This year has been one of alignment and gratitude, both professionally and personally, and I can feel that harmony flowing into every corner of life.

A Fulfilled Sense of Gratitude

Lately, I’ve felt so deeply aligned with the projects coming our way. They’re a beautiful fit — stylistically inspiring, logistically exciting, and, most importantly, paired with the kindest clients and wonderful contractors. That combination creates a creative flow that’s hard to put into words. It’s the kind of work that makes me eager to start each day, knowing we’re not only crafting beautiful spaces but also building lasting relationships.

Making Time for Family

When I’m not working, I’ve tried to fill the calendar with as much family time as possible. This summer has taken me from a family vacation in the Colorado mountains to weekend trips back to my hometown to see a favorite band. We’ve soaked in the energy of the Iowa State Fair, enjoyed rooftop restaurant dates, and leaned into those shared moments that become the fabric of our memories.

Small Rituals, Big Impact

I’ve also carved out time for myself — a gift that’s easy to overlook but always worth giving. Whether it’s working through a personal project (there’s always at least one in progress), taking daily walks, or enjoying pilates classes, these little rituals help recharge my battery. This summer, I’ve been especially intentional about seasonal living: buying fresh produce at its peak, wearing colorful yet comfortable dresses for workdays, and using lotions and perfumes that carry the sweeter notes of summertime. These simple pleasures make everyday life feel richer.

Embracing a Different Kind of Summer

This season has been unlike most Iowa summers — rain, and lots of it. Usually, warm months draw us outdoors for every possible activity, but this year has been a reminder that our homes must be ready for every moment life brings. Solitude, relaxation, entertaining, sharing dinner around the table, or cozy family movie nights — home should hold space for them all. Spending more time indoors has only deepened my belief in creating interiors that support and inspire, and I’m grateful that my work allows me to do exactly that for others.

Looking Ahead with Gratitude

As we move toward fall, I’m carrying this summer’s lessons forward: align with what feels right, make space for the people who matter most, and embrace the rituals that recharge the spirit. And above all, continue creating homes that make every moment — rain or shine — feel intentional and beautiful.
