Meghan Blum Interiors is a full-service interior design firm specializing in residential design. At MBI, we believe that homes should reflect the people who live, work, and play in them. We weave the unique stories of each client into every inch of space we are designing, and our passion for innovative interior design, unparalleled attention to detail, and extraordinary professionalism sets us apart from other design teams in our field.

Prior to launching Meghan Blum Interiors, Meghan studied Interior Design and gained professional experience within the industry designing interiors. In 2015, she fulfilled a personal goal by establishing her own company, Meghan Blum Interiors. Through solid relationships with some of the industry’s most talented architects, contractors and vendors, she is able to bridge the gap seamlessly with the design, building and installation teams and create a truly cohesive work environment.

Meghan's talents exhibit a perfect blend of knowledge, skill, inspiration, and creativity. Design is her passion as she knows it can truly make a difference in people’s lives. When clients ask her to work on their home, the process is about more than decoration—it’s about showing people how to live better and enjoy their home. Meghan believes that being able to work as a designer is a gift—it’s an amazing opportunity to connect families and design spaces that truly inspire others!

Meghan brings sophistication and refinement to every project. Her skill at artfully blending styles and periods has made her a tastemaker and trendsetter with a reputation for having intuition, a keen sense for detail, a fresh eye and a down-to-earth personality that makes everyone feel at home. Oh, and she’s a firm believer that classic black and white will never, ever go out of style.

As Coco Chanel once said, “an interior is the projection of the soul.” Danielle believes that a home reflects more than your lifestyle—it reflects who you are. She is a firm believer in a layered, thoughtful approach to design that is never “finished”—it should evolve with you over time. Travel is near and dear to her heart, and as a collector of vintage and antique maps, she likes to display them in her home to show where her family travels on adventures together.

A 2003 graduate of Interior Design from Iowa State University, Danielle spent time working an internship in Southern California and studied abroad in Rome, Italy. When she settled in the Des Moines area in 2004, she focused her career on residential design within Central Iowa, specifically flooring and new construction. She joined MBI in the fall of 2018 and looks forward to continuing the relationships she has built within the community.

As roommates studying abroad in Rome, Italy, Meghan & April's relationship began long before her joining the MBI team. Originally from Northern Iowa, April's small-town roots brought her to Iowa State University where she graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Interior Design. April's passion for rich architectural design landed her in Chicago post-graduation working for an international commercial architecture firm. She loved the complexities of a large corporation and the constant energy of city living! Eventually, April found herself interested in residential design when Meghan posed a new opportunity- an interior designer focused on our custom home build projects. April's background in architecture and varying design styles made her the perfect fit. With a steadfast focus on client relationships and an eye for layering textures and tailored comfort, April offers a one-stop-shop for her new construction clients. You can find April & her husband outdoors all seasons with their two children, and occasionally cheering on the Cyclones at basketball games. "My family is constantly motivating me to always seek adventure", says April.

Growing up around her mother's collection of blue & white ginger jars, Anna always knew she wanted to spend her career in residential interior design. Styling and designing are two of her favorite things. It was a natural move to attend Iowa State University's Interior Design program where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design. She's always up for travel as she gained a great appreciation while studying abroad in Rome, Italy. There, she learned from Italian architects and designers from Fendi to hone in on a timeless and classic take on interiors. With a passion for rich color, she loves the hunt for that final piece to add to projects to make it personal. Outside of the studio, Anna enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and her Italian Greyhound, Elio.

Mindy serves as MBI’s Account Manager and spends much of her time working behind the scenes but thoroughly enjoys seeing the process come to life at MBI. She received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Northern Iowa and learned early on in her career the value of relationship building.  Mindy continued to put an emphasis on relationship building and she credits this to her success. She has an eye for detail and likes helping others. When not at MBI, Mindy enjoys spending time with her husband and three children.

Heidi is likely the friendly face greeting you first when you walk into our showroom! She’s always up for a gathering & her go-getter personality fit perfectly with her operational role at MBI. Her impressive amount of experience in retail serves her as a great component to our clients and vendors. Furniture and design are her favorite retail settings to work in as she appreciates the detail of a beautifully done custom project, but also knows the hard work that goes into the industry. Never afraid of a challenge, Heidi is our go-to for many aspects and keeps our creative atmosphere organized and on track. When Heidi is not managing the daily operations of MBI, she loves to spend time with friends, traveling, & hitting up the Iowa Hawkeyes tailgates in the fall! She loves a busy atmosphere and a day-to-day that constantly is changing. A quickness to problem solve and her bubbly personality bring MBI a great strength!

From branding and website development to social media and public relations, Katelyn has her hands in every project related to marketing at Meghan Blum Interiors, also including our commerce site, House of Blum. Katelyn began her pursuits in interior design but quickly learned she enjoyed blending creativity with her interest in business. After graduating from Iowa State University with a Bachelors in Marketing, she landed a corporate experience directly out of college where she learned the ins and out’s of branding and advertising. Longing for an industry she was passionate about and a smaller team atmosphere, she found MBI offered her the best of both worlds. Outside of the office, she’s typically relaxing with her husband and golden retriever and exploring the restaurant scene of Des Moines!
