The Blum Retreat: Inside Meghan's Pool House

ree

Some spaces take shape in an instant, and others are dreamt about, sketched, and refined over years. For Meghan, the pool house—now lovingly called The Blum Retreat—was exactly that: a vision that unfolded in thoughtful phases.

A Collector’s Eye

Step inside, and you’re immediately met with Meghan’s signature touch: a collected, layered interior full of story and soul. She’s an avid treasure-hunter, happiest wandering antique shops with time to linger and sift through hidden gems. Many of the pieces in the Retreat were found on her travels or inspired by old-school design books that celebrate timeless craftsmanship. The result is a mix that feels both worldly and wonderfully personal.

Bold Choices, Fresh Energy

Unlike the Blum Tudor’s main house—rich with history and tradition—this space embraces bold, playful personality. Meghan reupholstered her chaise sofa, transforming it from a practical white Krypton fabric into a striking coral velvet, instantly changing the mood. She incorporated animal prints, a favorite design element for the way they inject energy and edge while balancing the more feminine aspects of the room. The mix is funky, fearless, and completely unique.

More Than a Pool House

The Blum Retreat isn’t just beautiful—it’s practical. Since Meghan’s early 1900s Tudor doesn’t have a proper basement, this became the ideal spot for gatherings. It’s where friends are welcomed for lively parties, and where Meghan and her husband, David, can enjoy a quiet glass of wine after the kids are asleep. A thoughtfully integrated home office also makes it a fully functioning workspace, blending business with leisure seamlessly.

The Perfect Escape

In the end, the Retreat lives up to its name. It’s equal parts sanctuary and social hub, designed for both unwinding and entertaining. With its layered antiques, bold fabrics, and personality-packed details, The Blum Retreat captures everything Meghan loves most about design: creating spaces that are not only beautiful, but also deeply lived in and loved.
