  • High Point Market Trends: Spring 2024

High Point Market in North Carolina is like a beautiful interior design heaven right here in the USA. It's where most of our custom furniture brands build and make the furniture by hand and all our vendors have showrooms to display their products. Market happens twice a year and new products are released each time. Although the MBI team didn't attend market this spring, here are a few trends or shifts we're seeing in interior design! COLOR DRENCHING Chocolate brown is making it's statement for another year! The walls here are drenched in the brown paint with large-scale graphic art prints layered over the top. Lighter furniture makes this space pop and create a calm, inviting living space. We also noticed the block-style furniture pieces. Larger sofa legs and arm rests give a more modern look. Speaking of color drenching, we saw another room from the same vendor playing tribute to this trend. A moody teal is a great backdrop from these furniture selections. We love the solid fabrics paired with velvets and stripes for added texture. We would love to try this trend in a study, pantry, or bedroom! NATURAL FINISH DETAILS We're seeing more and more natural materials hit the market. From sculptures and decorative objects to pieces of furniture, natural tones and textures are taking over the interior design world! We love the softer and darker tones and how luxurious velvets lay on the materials. One material we're especially loving is rope. One of our favorite vendors has enveloped this trend by using rope on furniture, lighting, and accent pieces. This feels sophisticated while keeping it casual! COLOR WATCH: SOFT CITRUS When we think of citrus, we often envision pungent, electric tones. For 2024, we're seeing yellow and orange in a much more muted and relaxed way. We're loving the buttery tones and warm orange and how it balances against white so well. MORE MARBLE High Point Market is also a time where designer and furniture brand collaborations are announced! One of our favorite collaborations this year was between Amber Lewis and Four Hands! One aspect we noticed in this collection is it's attention to marble. It's a beautiful material and we absolutely love the historical feel it brings to any project. If you have any questions or comments on trends, don't hesitate to reach out! Also, if you have a question you would like answered or a topic we could cover in the blog, email hello@meghanbluminteriors.com!

  • #BeautifullyBespoke Project Tour

For each project that Meghan Blum Interiors takes on, there is always a design direction or vision that is carried throughout. We named this project after it's level of detail and custom finishes. From the millwork, original hardwood floors, and the lighting selections with antique rubbed brass, every element is 'bespoke' and chosen with purpose. For #BeautifullyBespoke, we paid tribute to the historical architecture and details as well as carrying out a modern approach. The crafted custom moldings added that extra layer of depth! The Living Room Original crown molding against olive green walls add emphasis to the design of the living room. A large-scale glass ball chandelier with brass accents brings the wow-factor we love layering into our designs! The furniture selections are both comfortable and functional for this large living room . A home to tiny children too, we selected a herringbone pattered performance fabric for the sofas so our clients can be worry-free with spills . We want to particularly bring attention to the side profile of the sofas- they are so unique and stunning! The leather accent chairs are from one of our favorite vendors, Chaddock, & layered in beautifully. Tufted with buttery leather in a camel shade, these chairs sit like a hug. They are so comfortable! We opted for a Ralph Lauren inspired cocktail table with stacks of books and accessories in different textures and layers. To the left is the before photo of the now living room. The space was made larger by taking out kitchen walls. For a more open floor plan, we switched the dining room to the living room to create an open concept between the kitchen and living space. The Kitchen BEFORE AFTER Now full of light with elegant details, this kitchen has truly become the heart of the home! The island is a space for quick, casual meals and baking treats. The island is made up of plenty of storage and hold 5 rattan wrapped counter stools. White cabinetry and walnut accents add contrast and depth. The pendants are our favorite element- antique glass and antique rubbed accents pair beautifully to make a statement! They almost replicate globes and we love the character it adds. The Powder Bathroom This is one of our favorite transformations to date! This petite powder bath had potential to be fabulous with a few updates! These spaces are a place to pack the punch! We selected a Schumacher wallpaper that replicates clouds for a moody feel. We wrapped the entire room in it to add statement. A marble vanity with brass plumbing fixtures, brass and lucite sconces, and a beveled mirror frame add to the dramatic scene. The Den The goal for this space was adding comfort and timeless pieces of furniture. We used our clients existing ottoman and accent chairs and selected a custom chesterfield sofa in leather, a new rug, wallpaper, and pillows. The final result turned out beautiful! Our clients wanted this room to feel cozy and collected. We added a patterned camel grasscloth with silver detailing to the ceiling. It really closes up the room in the best way! BEFORE The Entry Sometimes the smallest rooms bring the most joy (have you seen the powder bath yet?!). This space feels glam and inviting while comfortable enough to slip off your shoes and set down your bag. The original tile flooring plays the historical note kept throughout the home! There are pretty spaces around each corner of this home. A grasscloth and champagne leafed demilune table is functional to hold board games or dining room essentials. We layered a beveled crystal table lamp and abstract artwork. Marrying modern and traditional touches is our specialty. Our clients impecable, classic taste paired with our tailored vision really created a masterpiece. We love the traditional accents mixed with more modern touches for a young family's lifestyle. Stay tuned for the full reveal on the blog next week! Until then, here are a few detailed photos we wanted to share! Mercury glass with antique rubbed brass accents create such a beautiful statement! We love the globe shape. We hung three over this large island! Fresh wallpaper in an elegant pattern greets you when walking through the front door. A crystal flush mount in a gold finish layers in beautifully! Designer Tip: wrapping an enclosed space in the same wallpaper (walls and ceiling) adds such an embodied feeling. For decor, we wen't fairly simple. Minimal pieces that our client loved was more important than layering in the knick knacks. You will see a lot of gold accents throughout this home- from lighting to decor! See you next Thursday for a full reveal (with before photos)!

  • 5 Easter Hosting Tips to Save

Planning, prepping, setting, & enjoying all go into a holiday as a hostess. Between nailing the perfect menu and creating an intimate, beautiful gathering place, we're sharing Meghan's top 5 tips for hosting any holiday! 1.Planning your Menu & the Platters: When we're young and attending grandmas annual Easter dinner, it may seem like it magically all comes together! However, days and sometimes weeks go into that beautiful meal. One of my biggest tips is planning the menu and once that's finalized, planning the dishes and platters to go with it. I am a collector of all things entertaining, so I mix and match. I first pull out all the pieces I would like to use. Then I write on sticky notes what I'm serving. I pair the sticky notes with each platter so I have an appropriate size and style for each dish! This saves you from accidentally using the ham dish for the mashed potatoes, etc.! 2. Individual Table Settings: I love to set a beautiful table! It's always a fun way for me to be creative and use my collectibles. Now that we have House of Blum, I love incorporating the latest napkin or glass we have on hand! I love to make my family or guests feel special with their table settings. Adding their name and a little decoration goes a long way. For Easter, I always make these little homemade nests with eggs. We did a tutorial on Instagram, so I linked that here for you to watch! https://www.instagram.com/reel/C4NurduOqn3/ 3. Having a Treat Ready to Go for when Guests Arrive Boards are such an easy way to display snacks beautifully! For this arrangement, I used a rattan tray and filled it with sweet Easter treats. It's an easy thing for guests to grab right when they walk through the door! I also always have a rosé or champagne chilling for holidays! Set out a few flutes and its a simple serve-yourself bar! 4. Layer in the Spring Colored Florals Tulips, daffodils, cherry blossom branches and fresh greenery are such beautiful florals to tie into your Easter centerpiece. We even layered in mandarin branches (you can find these at Trader Joes with the stems on)! We love to tie in a few smaller floral arrangements on the table as well. Small-budded white florals drape along the table in coral vases for pops of color! 5. Festive Touches Around the Home Adding special touches around your home create a memorable scene! A few of our favorite ways to decorate for Easter are dying eggs, setting out chicks and bunnies, or decorate an Easter tree (my family tradition)! I trim real branches from trees in my yard, set them in a vase, and hang my glass decorative eggs on them. It's a fun tradition that my kids enjoy helping out with too! We did a series on Instagram where I shared 13 days of DIY! A few of them were Easter related, so I linked those below! • Trend Alert: Hints of Red

You've likely seen the new trend of adding a "touch" of red as a unexpected element. It's surely a fashion statement, but it's also impactful in the home! We wanted to share a few ways that you can pop on this trend too- whether you want to go for it or keep it subtle! The iconic staircase in the Presidential Suite at The Greenbrier odes to the history of this famous hue. Red may be popping up now, but this accent shade has always been around! Paired with greens, bright white, and natural wood tones, the red staircase runner layers in exactly how it should- pungent and unexpected. A navy blue binding on the runner adds an extra layer of elegance! We love this designer trick to make it look more sophisticated and intentional. We don't see full saturated rooms in red, but throw pillows, artwork, and styling pops are perfect to try with this trend! Red looks beautiful paired with green and blue especially. Photo credit (in order): Brie Williams, Decorilla, Ariel Okin Photo credit: Pinterest Sofia Richie is the ultimate style muse! We love her hints of red and the attention it's gotten from the fashion community. Whether it's a handbag or Mary Jane flats, we love it! • Setting the Easter Table: Classic Collections

The first holiday to welcome spring and a new beginning, we love dressing the table for this holiday! We kept it fairly muted while letting the flowers and table settings pop! Our newest obsession this season: Cabbage Plates! The textures and beautiful, classic green will make a beautiful collection! I have such a passion for creating and being creative! Setting the table each holiday is something I look forward to. For Easter, I love pulling true Easter colors- pastels, greens, & pink! Keeping is classic with black and white is always a great combo too! For the place setting, we leaned on layers. First, a rattan Serpentine placemat adds whimsy and natural textures. Then, we layered our antique-style Giulietta Floral Dinner Plate underneath the two Cabbage Plates. The top layer are our sweet Bryar Baskets and homemade nests. Gold and silver flatware tie in the gold from the Bamboo Napkin Rings too! We love a great linen napkin for entertaining. • Struggling with decor? Here's our best styling tips.

This time of year sparks all the inspirations for refreshing our homes. One of the easiest (& quickest) ways to refresh your space is through decor! Yes, buying new decor is always fun to shop for, but rethinking what you already have does the trick too! Here are a few of our best decorating hacks! From kitchens to living rooms, we have all the bases covered! You can find the links to these products at the end of this blog post! tip #1: bookshelves & etageres Bookshelves are etageres can be overwhelming to decorate. There are so many shelves & bare spaces to fill. Here's what we would do: Set your first layer to add height. Layer books, boxes, or trivets first. On the second to bottom shelf, you will see we aligned 4-5 book standing straight up too. Then, add our art! We like including a few pieces. Here, we set one directly on the shelf & one on s stand. Add something large. Our large coral bowl is a staple for us. It's large scale & looks. beautiful with greens. Time for smaller pieces! Statement decor, mini lamps, & vases finish off the shelf beautifully! tip #2: living room side tables We like to keep it simple on these surfaces! One statement lamp and something smaller next to it is a nice balance. We love the Linden Lamp you can find on houseofblum.com- it is large scale & a great conversation piece! Picture frames, small bowls filled with candy, or trivet dishes are all great ideas. Large coffee table books also look beautiful layered! tip #3: nightstands Doesn't everyone want to wake up to fresh flowers on their nightstands? We understand this isn't the norm & we don't live this way either! Here's a few beautiful nightstand styling tips! We love adding a statement lamp to the nightstand. Layered on top of a few books and that's really all you need. Adding a few accessories you love or a vase ready for fresh florals is also always a good idea! Smaller trays can become functional for holding your phone, lip balm, or other nighttime routine rituals. It really can be as easy as 1, 2, 3! tip #4: coffee tables This is one of our favorite places to style! A large scale coffee table provides so much surface area for objects, books, & layering pieces. For a square table, we opt for splitting the table into four quadrants. A tray filled with smaller items (candle, crystal jar & faux tulips). A book cradle is perfect for displaying an open book. Share with your guests by opening to your favorite page! A textural bowl or object! Large scale & textured are a perfect duo. This wavy bowl is a gorgeous choice! Boxes layered! Add smaller sculptures on top for a unique look. tip #4: entry tables As an impressionable space, dressing an entry accordingly is important! The acessories and furniture pieces placed in this space should be functional and interesting. One of our favorite accessories is the Rings for Brains sculpture. We love the scale & marble base with contrasting black. It's fun to look at it and it really catches your eye. We love it paired with a feminine branch & more traditional pottery vase. For Meghan's entry, she leaned in on a modern/traditional take with mostly black & white colors. The abstract artwork is unexpected and packs a punch! If you need help styling any more spaces in your home, let us know in the comments! We would love to help you! To shop the posts, click on this link.
